Sometimes I forget why I love doing what I do. I forget sometimes how much I love being a wife and mother! On busy days or trying days, I forget to appreciate this time as it will most likely pass me all too quick!!!
I know that sometime in in the not too distant future, my boys will want to do things on their own, not want my opinion or approval quite so much, want to sit with their friends rather than me, want to buy their lunch rather than what I can make, and I may possible ruin their plans (or life) at times.
But until that day comes......I will enjoy these days! The days where I am;
- a better cook than any contestant on MasterChef
-smarter than Tony's school teacher
-funnier than Kramer
-capable of beating up bad guys
-more powerful than the police or any law
I know! I am mighty impressive according to Anthony, Tony, and Carter! I know that this time may pass (not for Anthony I hope!!) but I will take it for now cos there is nothing I love more than my 3 boys!

Grateful
I decided that I am going to try and purposefully identify things I am grateful for in my life everyday. Obviously I am EXTREEMELY grateful for my family but I am talking about the everyday little things in life.
Today I am grateful for food! Yes, food does sustain life and is very yummy, but today it kept me from losing my cool at Carter.
We have Wednesdays home together. Just the two of us. As much as I love my little munchican and the joy he brings, he can also be a challenge.
Carter is incredible strong-willed, impulsive, and charming! He knows how to push my buttons (I think he got that from his father), but he also knows how to make me laugh and can quickly change my mood from angry to happy (that trait must be from me).
Today he drove me a little nuts. I found him in the toilet with the door shut laughing away. he had locked the door so I had to go get the little spare key (crucial to have with Carter) and unlocked the door.
To my HORROR, there was water all over the floor, walls, and somehow the ceiling! I would have yelled, everypart of me wanted to, except I had a mouth full of food that I couldnt swallow before Carter turned around and said to me;
"All clean now!".
Later in the afternoon I sat down with a bowl of chicken salad and was eating my lunch when I looked into the kitchen and found Carter taking a bite out of all the pieces of fruit in the fruit bowl and then putting them back. Again, thanks to me having an abnormally large quantity of food in my mouth, I wasnt in any position to yell. When I swallowed I waiting a few seconds and asked;
"Young man what do you think you're doing?"
This innocent little face looked up and said;
"Where's nectarines?"
I think he was sampling all the fruit to try and find a nectarine-there were none even in the bowl!
So...today I am thankful for food. Cos it shut me up and made me unable to yell at my adorable little ratbag and gave him time to make me smile :-)

Chicken News
We had roast chicken for dinner on Sunday night-cooked in a slow cooker! It works, and it works well. You simply put the whole chicken in at 9am, add....nothing, then take out at 5pm and eat!
As I was pulling apart the chicken and looking for bones that were big enough for Astro not to choke on, Tony came to help me. He checked bone after bone, deciding which were big enough and which would "make Astro die".
He stumbled across what I think was part of the breast bone and noticed that it looked a bit different from a lot of the other bones in shape. He was rather amazed and exclaimed;
"I know! I can take this bone for my news tomorrow!"
I was thinking..."Oh please don't!".
Tony went to sleep that night with a chicken bone held tight in his little hand and did indeed wake the next morning and present for his news at school.....a chicken bone!
I asked his teacher what she thoguht of his news after school. She told me it was certainly one of the more original items brought in for news and that she had never seen a child so proud to present a bone from his dinner to the class.
Thats my boy!

A special type of news
Tonys news day is Monday! For those of us who remember having news day, this was a great day! Tony decided he would bring along his Rugby trophies and medals for his news this week.
After dinner (at 3:40pm!-yes i know we eat dinner VERY early), the boys were getting ready for a bath. As Tony was getting changed I asked him about his news. He told me it went well.
I said to him;
"I wish I could have been there to watch you do your news".
He cheerfully told me;
"Its ok mum, I can just do it now!"
He get all ready and stood up straight holding onto his trophies and just before he began he said;
"Ok mum, now just pretend I'm not naked alright?"
Carter on the other hand has developed a bit of a tendancy to lie! Yes, my 3 year old is a liar-but only on the important things! And poor old Papi tends to get the blame.
For example;
"Carter....did you wee on the floor?"
"No!"
"Who did this wee on the floor?"
"Papi!!!"
"Carter..did you wipe mashed potato on the tv screen?"
"No....Papi!"
"Carter...did you wipe your boogers on Daddy?"
"No,...Papi!"
I have to say that Papi has some rather gross habits for an almost 50 year old :o)
Ah the joys of children! No matter how tired or bad a day you can have, they always make you smile

Valentines Day
Yesterday was Valentines DAy! After 6 years of marriage, my darling husband still makes sure I am spoilt on Valentines Day.
I know most people do breakfast in bed but being ME, and kinda fussy with breakfast (meaning I dont really eat it), Anthony knows the way to my heart is still through my stomach, just through OBSCENE amounts of junk food!
The boys were sick over the weekend so I was feeling pretty tired yesterday. Anthony came home from his morning shift at work and presented me with my Valentines Day presents-FOOD and SLEEP!!!
Ah yes, there were strawberry easter eggs (as NOWHERE sells strawberry freddos anymore), snickers, apple cider, lemonade, popcorn chicken from KFC, chicken McBites from McDonalds, cheeseburgers, icecream WITH Icemagic, and a box of Magnums! PERFECT!
Now, within about 45 minutes (no lie) I had eaters all the eggs, all the KFC and MCDonalds, 11 funsize snickers, and 3 Magnums! I felt SO gross but SO content.
Then he took the boys for me so I could sleep the afternoon away! I couldnt ask for much more than that to make the perfect valentines day!
I didnt need any dinner that night-except for the one remaining Magnum ;o)

School Boy
Well.....it has happened....we have a school boy now!
I knew it was coming and yes i was excited but I kind of wish it was just temporary and I would have my Tony back again soon. I never really realised what a great helper he was to me until now, but on the positive he LOVES school.
His first day he started an hour later than all the other kids at 10 am and he woke up at 6 am and said "YES YES YES I got to school today!"
He then burst out of his room at 6:05 am all dressed in his uniform (complete with hat). Lucky he was ready with ony 4 HOURS to spare!!!
After what seemed like an entire day, it was finally time to go to school.
We drove in the car to school and found a park and just as we pulled in Tony grabbed his bag and said;
"Ok see ya Mum!"
I couldnt believe it and said;
"Tony we are DEFINITELY coming in with you!".
Not that I wanted tears or anything at the idea of leaving me, his beloved mother, but I thought he would at least be a little more eager to stay close by til he got in the gates. It was nice leaving him though and knowing he was totally happy and secure being there.
We came to pick him up just before 3pm and when he came out the door Anthony asked him;
"So...how was school?"
Tony stretched his arms out, tipped his face to the sky and proclaimed;
"I LOVE IT!!!"

Chatterboxes
Just realised how slack I have been with my posts and thought it was about time to jot something down.
Time is flying by and only 3more months til our big boy starts big school! He went for his first orientation visit on friday and he loved it. He made a number caterpiller, played musical statues, read "Goldilocks and the 3 bears" and then made a bowl of porridge out of playdough. He met his big kid (year 5) buddy who will be his buddy for next year and they spent recess together. I asked Tony if they talked much and he said "yes, we talked a bit". Tony doesnt know his name though and when I asked him if his buddy asked him many questions he answered me like i had asked him the most absurd question and said;
"YES Mummy! Of course he did! He asked me if I had any rubbish to put in the bin!".
Well well well...silly me! His buddy is obviously not much of a conversationalist :o)
Tony also had his rugby presentation day last week and he got a trophy and he won the coaches trophy too for his team so he got a second trophy! He keeps them on a little stand next to his bed and admires them regularly hehe
Carter is talking more and he loves to come and stand in front of me and holds up a finger and lists a family member (eg Grandma) and then I repeat it and so he puts up a second finger and says a different family member and he goes through them over and over. He remembers most of them but he still insists on calling Pacey "Pace" or "Bubba Matt". Luckily we all know who he means.
